Callin groovin booklovers to the literary lounge of the Booklovin Blues. Cast your eye at what we’re buried in for the month and what our bookish lovers have read, whether we love’em or not. Come on down...
This is one of my favourite books. I reread it about 14 years ago, yet even now found more to love. Atticus is about the same age as myself now and I was awed by his sensitivity and knowledge as father. I kept trying to analyse if it was it his work as lawyer that made him so understanding. I also read some criticisms of the book which up until now didn’t think existed! There is some debate about his honesty and character regarding the cover up of the death of Mr Ewell; Scout sounds older and more wordly than six and others add that it doesn’t do enough to expose racism and the black characters are stereotypical. I still love it. And thanks Gen for suggesting it.
